Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resin is a special engineering plastic with excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, self-lubrication and high mechanical strength. Compared with other special engineering plastics, polyetheretherketone resin has the following characteristics:
High temperature resistance: PEEK resin has a high glass transition temperature, which is one of the reasons for its reliable application in applications requiring heat resistance; the reinforced modified grade has a high load deformation temperature and a continuous use temperature of 300℃.
Low temperature resistance: It still has excellent toughness and does not crack.
Mechanical properties: PEEK resin is a plastic that has both toughness and rigidity and achieves a balance. In particular, its excellent fatigue resistance to alternating stress is outstanding among all plastics and can be comparable to alloy materials.
Self-lubricating property: PEEK resin has outstanding sliding properties among all plastics, and is suitable for use in applications that strictly require low friction coefficient and wear resistance. In particular, the sliding grade modified by mixing carbon fiber, graphite, and polytetrafluoroethylene in a ratio of 10% each is a grade with excellent sliding properties.
Chemical resistance (corrosion resistance): PEEK resin has excellent chemical resistance. Among common chemicals, only concentrated sulfuric acid can dissolve or destroy it.
Flame retardancy: PEEK resin is a very stable polymer. A sample with a thickness of 1.45mm can reach an excellent flame retardant standard without adding any flame retardant.
Peel resistance: PEEK resin has excellent peel resistance, so it can be made into thinly coated wires or electromagnetic wires and can be used under harsh conditions.
Fatigue resistance: PEEK resin has excellent fatigue resistance among all resins.
Radiation resistance: It has strong resistance to γ radiation, exceeding polystyrene, which has excellent radiation resistance among general resins. It can be made into high-performance wires that can still maintain good insulation ability when the γ radiation dose reaches 1100Mrad.
Hydrolysis resistance: PEEK resin and its composite materials are not chemically affected by water and high-pressure steam, and products made of this material can still maintain excellent properties when used continuously in high-temperature and high-pressure water.
Insulation: PEEK has good electrical insulation performance and maintains a very high temperature range. Its dielectric loss is also very small under high frequency conditions.
Wear resistance: It has good wear resistance. The wear loss of PEEK pure resin and H10wheel material is 2.7×(10-4)g, and the wear loss of PEEK pure resin and S17wheel material is 9.7×(10-4)g.
Difficult to process: PEEK resin is a super heat-resistant resin, but because it has the characteristics of benzene ring molecular structure, it requires special processing equipment. The following processing methods are available: 1. Injection molding; 2. Extrusion molding; 3. Compression molding; 4. Blow molding; 5. Melt spinning; 6. Rotational molding; 7. Powder spraying.
